My information Author: Ahktenar Date: 03-27-01 15:02 I presently hold the office of Vizier and reside in the capital, Waset (Thebes). I had been the Mayor of Per-Sobek (Crocodilopolis), so I know that there are no active members living there. However, I do have an estate there and call it home. I have a per here, but I also have another. I put the pages from AS there. For those interested, the URL is http://www.geocities.com/ahktenar. Please feel free to visit either home.

Request for placement Author: Chloe Hapsheput Date: 04-25-01 05:34 Thais, oh great heir to the throne, I am new to Qenbet, and request an appropriate placement in the community. At AS I was a member of the Athenian community, and of Rome. My role in Qebet is that of midwife and perfumer to the 'elite'. I could probably fit into any number of places. Great to be here and looking forward to working and living in the land of Egypt. Your premise of Cleopatra keeping her power is what attracted me to your novel.
RE: Request for placement Author: Imhotep Amenhotep Date: 04-25-01 11:55 Em Hotep! I am a citizen of Sais. I humbly petitioned Pharaoh over a week ago for a position at Qenbet. Pharaoh has currently not responded to my petition. I petitioned him directly and as I have never been in his presence, I cannot know what I may have said or done to displease Pharaoh that he should ignore me. As Imhotep Amenhotep, my skills are many, I am painter and physician. Perhaps Pharaoh is ill and I should be taken to him with haste to cure his maladies. My credentials are many, my experience includes service to King Djoser and my illustrious Father Ptah and Mother Sekhmet are well known as gods throughout Kemet, and I a lesser god by some. I only ask that I may be of service in Qenbet to Pharaoh, Pharaoh's family, servants and animals. I also have knowledge of architecture and decorating. (if anyone is interested). In fact the step pyramid at Saqqara is only one of my great designs. To be reduced to begging because of inauspicious circumstances is more than I can bear. I leave this petition in your capable hands - Em Hotep--Imhotep
Placement of characters Author: Ahktenar Date: 04-26-01 07:44 As we have no set story line, complete with stock characters, it is generally up to the individual to decide where and how they fit into the scheme of things. This is often difficult for new comers, or anyone really, to do. It often might seem that you could be intruding or interfering in ongoing plots. Even if it were true, this could be a good thing. New blood in story lines can be great, and often essential. However, you should talk to those already involved before just jumping right in. It will make things go smoother for all concerned Chloe, you could set up your own shop as a perfumer and/or midwife, in Waset (Thebes), or in any of the cities. You could also apply to become part of the royal workshops, and work for Pera'a (Pharaoh). You could also find a patron among the nobles and do the same. Imhotep, you are in much the same situation. You can set up your own busines or apply to the palace or other nobles. For both of you, getting clients and finding a position will mean talking to people. Don't stop and wait for just one person, no matter who it is. Keep making the rounds. Most of us don't mind chatting with new people and answering their questions. Just like getting jobs today, there is some leg work involved, and interviews to get through. *s*
Thanks, Ahktenar Author: Chloe Hapsheput Date: 04-27-01 07:33 I appreciate the directions, very much. I've been invited by Rosenetka to join in her community in Iunu and even a hint about what perfume the local Inn Keeper likes. So far everyone has been very gracious. You are right about not wanting to interrupt the flow of the novel. That is my main concern.Eventually, I would like to work/ be involved with the Pera'a group if my character could fit in there. Em hotep, Chloe
RE: Thanks, Ahktenar Author: KhenumRa Hatshepsut Date: 05-08-01 00:14 Nebet Chloe, you would be welcome in Waset anytime. Most of the ladies of the Qenbet would probably love to have their own perfumes, and should you wish to write about making a visit to my offices, I would be glad to meet with you. Just leave a note at my per or office, and I would be happy to discuss it.Chloe Hapsheput wrote: > > I appreciate the directions, very much.
